Daily Life and Social Activities

All residents are encouraged and helped to maintain hobbies and activities they wish to. Our activities programme includes bingo, knitting, arts and crafts, and, where appropriate, physical games. Many of our activities are 'visitor based' as we appreciate how important it is for our residents to feel that they are not cut-off from the outside world. There are no restrictions or formalities on visiting, and friends and family are encouraged to visit and participate in any shows or parties which are taking place. Two musicians visit twice a week, a production company visits four times a year and provides themed singing and dancing shows. There is an annual carol concert performed by local school children followed by a Christmas party and, this year, we are hoping to host a childrens ballet production.

However, even though we provide various stimulation and activities, we acknowledge there are always those residents who do not wish to be included. For these residents, we respect their right to exercise their own choices and control in their lives.

Catering

Our chef takes great care in planning a varied menu of traditional home cooking for our residents.

The Home has a two week menu rota which is based on traditional British food and is changed approximately every two months. It includes fresh produce wherever possible. Lunch is generally served as the main meal of the day and individual's likes and dislikes are always catered for. Hot drinks and snacks are always available. The main aim of the chef is to meet all the nutritional requirements whilst producing appetising and delicious dishes. We find that a small glass of sherry mid-morning helps 'whet' the appetite!

Residents can choose whether to take each meal in the dining room with their companions or in the comfort of their own room.

In addition to the care staff and chef, we employ an administrator, a housekeeper and maintenance staff to look after the building and grounds.

Georgian House provides the following services. These services are charged directly to the customer and are not included in the fees.

Hairdresser - visits once a week
Aromatherapist - visits monthly
